How to remove O2′s nonsense from your XDA

Sep 15, 2005 in General

I just bought an XDA IIs, and it’s great. However, it’s slowed down and complicated by O2′s rather over-bearing customisation. Solution?

Found this at:

How to remove the o2 active icon

1. Press and holding the O2 icon brings up the slider. You can now move it along bar.

2. Or using File Explorer go to /windows/startup and delete the o2 active shortcut. Soft reset. O2 active is not started and icon is not shown. To restart it go to start, programs, o2 active and program fires up.

3. My prefered option. If you have an xda IIs… delete it. Easiest way is a hard reset. This wipes your xda of all data, so backup. During the hard reset, the xda asked personal or corporate user. Select corporate and enter 0506 as pin. Note you have only 5 seconds or less before xda defaults to personal. O2 active is not installed and xda will work much faster and freeze a lot less. Make sure your xda iis has latest rom from o2. You won’t believe the difference !

I went for option 3, and the XDA is MUCH cleaner and faster now.

Easy peasy!
